With the help of a University of Minnesota Medical School Plastic Surgeon, what was an unimaginable loss for Karen Douglas has become a sign of hope.
After a severe bite from a dog at the dog park, Karen’s nose required reconstruction. Thankfully, an emergency room doctor knew the right plastic surgeon who could do just that.
Dr. Peter Hilger, of M Physicians Hilger Face Center in Edina, is one of the world’s best plastic surgeons. And Dr. Hilger worked closely with Karen through a journey that involved around half a dozen surgeries.
Through that journey, Dr. Hilger and Karen developed a strong partnership that helped make the process just a little bit easier.
“When you’re on a major journey like this, you form a relationship that you never forget,” Dr. Hilger said.
Now, thanks to Dr. Hilger’s expertise and the technology at the U of M, Karen’s nose finally looks and acts like a nose again.
